'POP-UP AFRICA' : One Off Gallery, Kenya

4 - 15 February 2014

The Gallery of African Art (GAFRA) is delighted to announce the second exhibition from its successful 'POP-UP AFRICA'™ series. The aim of the series is to connect African art galleries and artists with new audiences abroad, thereby reaffirming GAFRA's commitment to giving a greater global visibility to modern and contemporary visual arts from across the continent and the Diaspora. The exhibition will feature works from the Nairobi based One Off Contemporary Art Gallery, representing the current leading contemporary artists in Kenya.

The eleven artists featured are: Anthony Okello, Bertiers, Beatrice Wanjiku, Richard Kimathi, Shabu Mwangi, Patrick Mukabi, Peter Elungat, Timothy Brooke, Fitsum Berhe, Cartoon Joseph, and John Kamicha.

GAFRA, located in the heart of Mayfair, launched 'POP-UP AFRICA'™ with The Nike Art Gallery, Lagos in September 2013. 'POP-UP AFRICA'™ has returned to GAFRA to focus on the vibrant East African art scene, assisting in expanding its appreciation across Europe. GAFRA has collaborated with One Off Contemporary Art Gallery, to provide these eleven artists with an international platform, to showcase the extraordinary breadth of talent the country has produced.
