ENWONWU LAUNCHES GAFRA'S NEW SPACE

The Gallery of African Art (GAFRA) reopened its doors on Albemarle Street with a selected exhibition of works by the Nigerian artist Ben Enwonwu. Widely regarded as the forefather of African modernism, the exhibition spanned the seven decades of his artistic practice. Audiences were given the rare treat of works from as early as 1938, as well as unknown sculptures.

It is hoped that the exhibition encourages further discourse, or indeed a comprehensive survey of his oeuvre.
